Arity's AI assistant guiding insurance decisions

The Challenge

Arity provides mobility data to insurance carriers who use it for rate determination. But being a raw data company isn't valuable in the long term. The challenge was to envision how Arity could expand from providing raw data to delivering curated, actionable insights — positioning the company to stay relevant and competitive as the InsurTech landscape evolves.

Over one design sprint with CLEVER°FRANKE, we visualized a compelling future product vision for Arity Insurance Solutions — aimed at achieving internal alignment and inspiring engagement from both internal and external stakeholders.

Research identified where Arity could stand out against competitors like TransUnion, Experian, LexisNexis, INRIX, and others:

Empowering Insurance Teams

We mapped the product vision to real user personas across the insurance carrier organization — identifying specific goals, needs, and frustrations for each role:

State Product Manager

Drives state-level product growth and profitability. Needs to visualize and compare growth metrics, view historical loss trends, predict future impacts, and share evidence with colleagues. The primary use case for the vision.

Marketing VP

Assesses new markets, develops targeted campaigns, and shares strategies. Needs to combine growth metrics with driving profiles, launch and monitor campaigns targeting segments of drivers, and understand how performance relates to market data.

Claims Manager

Focuses on proactive resource allocation, accurate claims handling, and fraud detection. Needs to anticipate busy periods, get forecasts from real-time data, and integrate weather and holiday data for better preparation.

Our Vision

A world where insurance carriers make confident, data-driven decisions powered by rich, real-time Arity mobility insights. By combining trustworthy datasets, providing clarity to see what's important, and supplying the power to understand patterns through different lenses.

The concept is structured around two primary ways of cross-sectioning information: by location (nationwide → state → county → zip) and by category (traffic & mileage, driving behavior, risk factors).

Making Decisions

A highly guided experience where AI analyzes datasets and offers personalized recommendations. Arity's assistant guides users with concrete actions — transforming raw data into clear, prioritized decision points.

Finding Insights

A semi-guided journey with short narrative insights and contextual information beside the map. Insights adapt dynamically based on the selected map extent and data — combining Arity mobility data with open datasets like meteorological and census data to increase explanatory power.

Exploring Data

A free-search mode for flexible analysis and scenario testing. Users can experiment with filters and layers without a fixed narrative — supporting thorough expert investigation with deep filtering and indicator analysis over time. Privacy guardrails prompt users to broaden filters when selections are too narrow.

Outcome

The Insurance Vision concept successfully achieved internal alignment on the powerful potential of Arity's expanded offering. The vision demonstrated how Arity could evolve from a data provider to an insights platform — inspiring further engagement from both internal product teams and external insurance carrier stakeholders.

The three-layer approach (Making Decisions, Finding Insights, Exploring Data) provided a scalable framework that accommodates different user expertise levels and use cases across the insurance organization.
